The cooperation

Last year NUTRILITE experts Dr. Micheline Vargas, Nutrition Research Scientist, and Dr. Duke Johnson, Medical Director NUTRILITE Health Institute, met all soccer players to analyse their personal nutrition behaviour. “The program was launched after we presented the scientific background at the core of NUTRILITE’s approach to diet and supplementation. The soccer players particularly appreciated the natural ingredients from organic farming that distinguish our products”, stated Dr. Vargas. As part of the project, a customized nutritional program, rich in fruit and vegetables and with proper supplementation, has been developed for each athlete, with specific recommendations on timing and conditions provided by the NUTRILITE experts.

“The team is following the suggested nutritional and supplement program. The data we have collected so far show evident beneficial results”, says Daniele Tognaccini, MilanLab Project Leader and Athletic Coach. “The soccer players reported a decrease in fatigue and in muscular cramps during soccer practice and games. Recent laboratory tests showed improvements in the values of the majority of players following the recommendations, such as an increase in Vitamin D levels”, commented Tognaccini.

Healthy eating and dietary supplements are key for amateur and professional athletes. However, they play an even more important role for non-athletes. Today’s frenetic lifestyle often leads us to eat incorrectly. The European Press Conference

On March 18th, 2010 Amway organized an international press conference at Milanello, the training center of AC Milan in Italy. The news of the day was the scientific partnership between NUTRILITE and Milan Lab.

The successful event was targeted at fitness and lifestyle journalists from all over Europe. More than 25 media from Russia, Turkey, Poland, Germany, Sweden, Hungary, Denmark, Italy, Spain and France attended the press conference.

The event started at 11:00 am with a tour around the sport facilities (17 hectares). Afterwards, the journalists watched a live training of the premier team having the opportunity to take pictures of all AC Milan stars. One of the most famous players, Clarence Seedorf, even stepped out of the training and had individual pictures with some of European visitors.

Back at Milanello around lunch time, all participants of the press conference were offered to fill in a nutrition questionnaire. After that, the NUTRILITE trainers gave personalized recommendations about their diet and supplementation. Having enjoyed a typical Italian lunch, the European group of journalists attended an international press conference with top representatives of both institutions: Dr. Micheline Vargas (NUTRILITE Health Institute), Ronaldinho (AC Milan), Daniele Tognaccini (Project Leader MilanLab) and Jean Pierre Meerssemann (Medical Coordinator AC Milan). The endorsement to the partnership and the recognition of the value and appreciation of NUTRILITE role was exceptional. Ronaldinho very well explained his personal involvement in the project and answered a lot of questions from the journalists about his individual experience with the suggested diet and NUTRILITE supplement program.

Furthermore, it was announced that NUTRILITE donates US$10,000 to the ONE BY ONE Campaign for children for every goal Ronaldinho scores during 2009 and 2010!

After the press conference most of the media had interviews with the MilanLab experts, Dr. Vargas and Ronaldinho.

Some great news for Amway in Ireland. The amount of Open Opportunity Meetings have been expanded in April to take account of the growth in the Irish Market.
The idea behind these business presentations is to assist Amway Business Owners [ABOs] in presenting the opportunity to new people and for new and existing ABOs to discuss learn more about their Amway Business.
As these meetings form part of Amway's support to ABOs there is no entry fee, therefore every ABO should avail of the meeting in their area.
Even if ABOs do not have guests or new ABOs to bring to the meeting they should come along to meet the team, learn the business and support Amway - after all they are supporting us.

Take a serious look at your revenue streams and then take a look at Amway. One thing we can be sure of is that as long as there are customers there will be sales people, as long as there is a need for a product there is a sales person to sell it. Selling is an honourable career and a career that has so much potential that it is worth investigating to see if it is an option for you.

If it is immediate income you are after then you all you have to do is sell/retail top quality Amway Products. There is no greater satisfaction than the feeling you get knowing that you have filled a need for a customer. Amway held it's 2nd business Building Seminar of 2010 in Johnstown House Hotel today Sunday March 7th - This was a fantastic event with some great speakers and a product display. One unique feature of these Amway events in Ireland is the ticket price and what happens to the funds. Tickets are €5 i.e. five euro per ABOship. ABOs enter their name, ABO number and nominate a local children's charity - during the seminar a draw takes place and the chosen ABO will get to present the funds to the chosen charity.

Back to the speakers we had a new 21% telling us how they did it and Pat Stranney teaching on how to get started and to close the evening we had executive diamond Jackie Gulick on rewards and lifestle.

We also had Andy Smith General Manager & Director, Amway UK and RoI speaking on company updates etc.

All this in a little town just outside Dublin in the Republic of Ireland - what a way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

Amway Business Seminar 7th Feb 2010

Amway held it’s first business seminar in Rep. of Ireland on Feb 7th in the Glen Royal Hotel, Maynooth, Kildare. There was a very large turnout and we should get official figures from Amway. Products were on display and there were also product demos and sampling.

Amway will be very pleased that the Irish and adopted Irish were out in full force – so much so that they are holding another seminar on March 7th 2010.

Paul Christophers was the main Amway guest speaker of the day but there were other local speakers that spoke about how they built and are building their business.

Overall is was a great success and one can definitely say the Amway business is alive and well in Ireland.

If you would prefer us to call you, then please send an email to events-uk@amway.com advising us of your ABO number and the date, time and number to call you back on. One of our ABO Service team will contact you directly and assist with your registration for the conference. Please note we can only offer this service between 08.30 and 18.00, Monday to Friday.

Priority Registration and ticket price at £/€ 10 per person will only be available for a limited time! Priority Registration is up until 12th February only and the ticket price will be £/€ 15 thereafter. On the day tickets will cost £/€ 20 per person. All prices are inclusive of VAT. Tickets sold are non-refundable and non-transferrable.

Spaces are limited, so please register early to avoid disappointment!!

Please note that you will not be receiving any printed ticket, but will receive an email confirmation of your registration. Your name badge will be available for collection on arrival at the conference.

All registered ABOs are invited to attend the conference, however please note that the conference is not open to customers or prospects.

It is important to note that as this is a business event, infants and children are not permitted to attend. For your own safety and consideration for others, we ask for your co-operation and understanding. ABOs with infants and/or children will not be permitted inside the Conference and Exhibition areas.

Please also note that during the event, special effects which include, but are not limited to: dry ice, bright lights, loud music, strobes, lasers and fireworks may be used.

Catering

Water will be available from eSpring stations located inside the venue, so please remember to bring your eSpring or Nutrilite bottles with you! There will be a cash catering outlet open for anyone that wishes to purchase food and drink throughout the day. Please note that only food purchased from the Arena may be eaten within the venue. Transportation

Transportation to the venue is at your own cost. Details on airport transfers and how to get to the venue from the train station will be communicated in our upcoming communications. Car parking at the International Centre is free of charge for all Amway ABOs.

ADA, Mich. (WOOD) - Though Amway is 50, it's not in any mid-life crisis.
Founded in 1959 by Rich DeVos and Jay Van Andel, the Ada-based company now boasts 13,000 employees and 3 million distributors worldwide. Amway is now in 80 countries and territories, earning $8.2 billion last year.
The next generation has been running the company for a while, but the focus is on the future, not the past.
"We've all in the second generation figured out you can't compete with the first generation, so we don't even try," Amway president Doug DeVos told 24 Hour News 8. "Throughout our lives, Dad and Jay have been our best cheerleaders there for all of us and all of us in the business...So what we do is work together to apply the principles to keep the business together, founded on the principles to do what you can to make the business better."
Chairman Steve Van Andel said Amway started with "basically soap, detergent, products we still have today. But we've added cosmetics, nutrition, water filters and air filters because the market demanded us to shift. We had a different need. We'll continue to look at those new things."
Co-founder Rich DeVos agrees, but took a moment to reflect.
He said there "were hard days where we had to stand up for this business and fight for it, when other people accused us of wrongdoing or not running the business correctly. It was always questioning the whole concept of the business."
The elder DeVos, now 83, said Amway "pioneered two things. We pioneered the marketing of traditional (personal) products, and then pioneered the whole multi-level marketing system. We proved this business. Mainly, we've proven it works for people who work for it."
He thinks the business could "double or triple" in the future because the Amway business "door is open to anyone - the uneducated, the impoverished, people who don't speak well. Our door is open."

This week the Amway Roadshow was in town we had an event in Dublin Tuesday, Cork Wednesday and Belfast tonight Thursday
- The night was open to ABOs and their customers and the plan was shown half way through the event – people could browse, see, handle and try the products and three Amway staff were present at each event -
This was a great departure from the norm and definitely worth doing again – it’s great that we have a company that will come in and support us

Network Marketing is alive and well and thriving in this economic environment.

When choosing a Network Marketing Company to partner with there are things to consider.

1: The history and financial strength of the company.

2: The product range.

3: The satisfaction guarantee behind the products.

4: Is there a buy back rule in place on products?

5: Do you have to pay upfront money for products or training tools [tapes, cds, books, etc.]?

6: Is the company a member of the DSA - Direct Selling Association of Ireland & UK. ?

7. Is the company progressive and do they offer training [free or at a nominal charge]?

8. Do the company pay out bonus's on time and direct into a bank account?

9. Is it FREE to register or join?

What I am saying here is - do your homework - remember you are getting involved in a business - the object is for you to make some money - many people who get involved in network marking come from an employee background and mindset and are not initially ready for the struggles of a business and the delayed rewards.

There are many great companies who sell their products & services through the network marketing business model and all have their own ways of doing things. Remember some companies are around a long time and have proven they are reputable, the less know ones although reputable can be narrow focused and a bigger struggle to build a network.

My advice for what it's worth - get involved in this great industry and have a go - you might just beat the recession.

Amway Ireland/UK Getting Stronger:

Amway UK/ROI is alive and well and growing. In Ireland we are progressing with the roll out of Open Opportunity Meetings. This month June '09 we launched the Cork Open. Cork is in the south of the country. We have also moved Dublin to two opens per month. Numbers are growing at all opens and room sizes are under pressure. Although we still have issues with some of the restrictions in the new business model - it is workable and provides a strength to the new ABOs business. The retail part of the business is now stronger and provides solid income in month one for new ABOs and once they achieve the benckmark of minimum 5 registered customers and total sales of €190 / £150 they can move to the next level which allows them to sponsor. We have turned the corner and there is a lot more to be done - but we are out there doing it - nothing on the hard work side of the business has changed - if you want success in direct selling and network marketing - you have to put in the efforts of talking to people - showing the plan - registering and training new ABOs - selling products - building a customer base - driving the miles - building foundations is never easy but without them the structures will be weak and eventually fall. So it's time to re-double our efforts and push forward in 2009 so that this year will be the year that the foundations for growth in Amway UK/ROI were laid. RW1

The answer is yes but how long it takes is entirely based on your sustained effort – it is achieved through a combination of selling Amway products and building a network of people who also sell Amway products and build a network of people. A balanced combination of both arms of the Amway business is what is required to achieve your desired level of income. It is said a recession is an opportune time to build an Amway business, this is because people are looking to expand or sustain their level of income. Network marketing is an ideal low cost buisness model – indeed Amway have no setup fees or registration fees – so you fledgling business is off the ground and you don’t even have to write a cheque or use the credit card – not a bad deal in a recession or indeed anytime.
If you are looking for an opportunity in these hard times network marketing is definitely an option.

Well we must give credit where credit is due - Amway UK/ROI have taken on board the real concerns of ABOs in ROI re pricing and the perception of our euro v sterling exchange challenges. As we are one market i.e. UK/ROI the perception was ROI was so much more expensive that the UK. Now there were a lot of factors in the mix - but to the customer perception is very important.
Anyway the good news for us here in ROI is that Amway have reduced the price of ALL products so that now we are more in line with the euro - sterling exchange rate and a promise from Amway that they will keep this under review. Now if we could only get the government to reduce the Value Added Tax close to the UK rate our prices would be even closer - the Budget is next week.
Well done Amway - one for listening and two for taking action.

I recently attended the Think Big Conference in Coventry UK - these a few thoughts on it:

The professional way the function was run is a credit to Amway and their staff. I see in Andy Smith a man that is trying hard to build credibility with the field but at the same time lead a company into it’s next phase of development.

It amazed me the amount of ABO’s that were registering on the day for the conference – maybe it just proves people leave things to the last minute in every country.

There was a great buzz around the conference and it was fantastic to see al the new growth – the excitement of the speakers was infectious and without doubt they are leading their was to the higher levels.

It was good to see some old heads speak – Trevor Lowe & Stephen Stranney – two steady leaders of integrity that have pride in the Amway Corporation.

A number of incentives were announced but overall you got the feeling that Amway is back with a bang – strong leadership is important and the Amway management are in my opinion leading the way.

They are pumping money into the UK/ROI market and it there for any of us to work for our share – how big the share is up to us because Amway want the challenge of paying out big rewards - so let’s not disappoint them.

Once again Amway have brought about changes for the better in relation to qualifications and in the Sterling v Euro exchange rate. This is a big well done to Amway keep up the positive changes.

Please be advised that we will be revising and modifying the Amway Business Owner Contract you have with Amway (UK) Limited. Specifically, we will be changing:

the requirements for a RC to obtain the CRC qualification and the POUND / EURO exchange rate on the qualification requirement - In order to obtain the CRC qualification a RC must, in a rolling 12 month period, have achieved an accumulated order total of £150/€190 (inclusive of VAT), from 5 separate registered customers

the requirements for a CRC to maintain his/her CRC qualification and the POUND / EURO exchange rate on the qualification requirement - In order to maintain the CRC qualification, in at least one calendar month of the Performance Year, a CRC must have 5 ordering and registered customers with an aggregate of at least £150/€190 of retail sales inclusive of VAT.

the requirements for a CRC to receive any Performance Bonuses and the POUND/ EURO exchange rate on the qualification requirement - A CRC must, in a month, have a minimum of 5 ordering registered customers and at least £150/€190 in registered customer purchases in order to receive any Performance Bonuses that would be earned.

the POUND / EURO exchange rate on the requirements to receive his/her monthly CVR - For every calendar month when the aggregate orders of the ABO Contract for qualifying Amway products or services are £100/€125 or greater (inclusive of VAT), Amway agrees to remit a CVR in the amount of 25% of the total sum due to Amway from the ABO in respect of those orders for that month.

the POUND / EURO exchange rate on the qualification requirements for additional reward opportunities in the BC category and the higher awards (£1/€1.25)

This communication is a NOTICE ONLY and is a requirement pursuant to Paragraph 11 of the ABO Contract. YOU ARE NOT REQUIRED TO SIGN ANY ADDITIONAL CONTRACTUAL DOCUMENT.

This update on meetings was sent to all Amway ABOs in UK/ROI - looks like Amway are listening to the leaders in the field and working with them to get the right solutions while still regulating for the good of the business as a whole.

I am happy to announce and implement a revised and updated ASA Meetings & Events Policy.

This revision of the Policy will be effective as of 1st February 2009 and applies to all ABO Meetings and Events in the UK and the Republic of Ireland.

The revised ASA Meetings & Events Policy and the related documents are now available online: Business Information> Library> Legal Documents & Contracts under Meeting Policy Documents.

The main changes have been highlighted below:

* Simplification of the authorisation process
* Introduction of 1 page forms at each stage of the authorisation process
* Acceptance of block bookings in advance
* Inclusion of the expenditure on hiring flip charts/projectors and the expenditure on petrol as part of the running costs of meetings.
* Losses may be offset against profits made within the same month

* Incidental profits/losses may be rolled over to the next month

Well that's the first series of open opportunity meetings over for January - Belfast, Athlone & Dublin - It was a great start to the new year and there were good numbers at all meetings. Amway are on the move again in Ireland and by all accounts there are a series of meetings planned for England, Scotland, Wales - not sure what happens on Jersey & Gurnsey.
At all meetings there was a representative from Amway present and he gave a short talk after the presentation.
It is great to see Amway promoting the open meetings by email and on the websites I am sure this is encouraging ABOs to get off the couch and attend the meetings.
There is one thing I know for sure the rooms will not be big enough next month - If you were an ABO at any of the meetings all you have to do is bring one new person back with you next month and Amway will have a challenge squeezing us all in.

A lot of challenges are facing the UK/ROI market. Recently when the UK government reduced the value added tax VAT rate in the UK all retailers reduced there prices to comply. Amway were fast to produce a supplementary price list for the UK sterling market to take account of the VAT reduction.
However we here in the ROI market are now under pressure from the sterling - euro exchange rate. With the strength of the euro in around the 94pence mark we are not getting the benefit.
Amway are still using a 50% price differential on products i.e. £1 of product = €1.50 in ROI - my question to Amway is when are you going to level the playing pitch with the price differential - we may be a small part of the UK/ROI market but we should at least expect to be treated as equals - isn't that the nature of this business??
How can we sell out of a dual priced catalogue when everyone knows the conversion rate of sterling to euro??
Amway you need to take action.

Most successful people from all walks of life will tell you that success is up to yourself. They will also tell you that after many years of hard work success found them.

They woke one morning and found they were an overnight success – I don’t think so!

So let us focus on success or failure in Network Marketing.

You get involved in a network marketing business - why - are you looking for more money? More time? A bit of both? Do you want to be I control of your life? Why is it you got involved? Answer this question and the process begins.

Define what you are looking for – write it down – successful people call this the Reason Why or the Goal or the Dream.

You could be just looking to earn an extra €100 per month and that would be success for you – so in that case work with whoever registered you into the business and get them to show you how to make €100 per month.

If your Goal is to create a larger income through building and maintaining a network of people then you need to sit down with a successful member of your support team and put a plan in place but remember you still have to do the basic requirements of the business plan to get started – so you can work away at putting in the foundation of your business.

All large building projects begin with a strong foundation – put in the foundation because long term this is what your success is built on.

Can we Succeed where others Fail? Of course we can - people fail in all walks of life it doesn’t have any bearing on other peoples success and it also doesn’t brand them a failure.

To have a little doubt is ok but to have faith in your own ability is even more important.

Be willing to listen but also be willing to work hard – go on blaze a new trail for yourself and others will follow.

Amway a Business for Today:

Considering all the challenges the Amway business has gone through over the years and more so in the past eighteen months – is Amway a business for today?

Certainly if we consider that economies are on the downturn, there must be a percentage of the population that is looking for an opportunity to increase their income and maintain their lifestyle – but was that not always the case?

If we consider the 80 – 20 rule http://management.about.com/cs/generalmanagement/a/Pareto081202.htm then we can to come to the conclusion that most people will not do what it takes when it comes to succeeding in business. Now many people are happy with their lot in life and to this end they are entitled to be left to what ever it is they are happy with. Just imagine out of every 100 head of population we have an 80% target market for retailing products and services.

Now that we know how big our retail market is we can conclude that our business opportunity is in the other 20%.

Here then is the dilemma - within the 80% who will be our customers and within the 20% who will join and build the business with you. A further dilemma is who in the 100% is likely to be in the 20% and who in the 80%.

Well the answer is we don’t know – so the process begins – and that then is our business – sorting through people – engaging people in conversation about their life – finding out do they fit the business or customer profile – either way play your cards right and you are on a winner. Retail customers are required to build a successful network marketing business now more than ever before. [some will debate this point - so debate]

I remember listening to a tape by Dexter Yager of Amway fame - where he said “you talk to a lot and you find a few – talk to a lot and find a few” - stick to the basics.

Now just how do you do that – well most people need some form of basic training in approaching people in the correct way so as to add to their chance of success. Success is never guaranteed in any walk of life especially business – so doesn’t it make sense to learn the fundamentals of the business from people who have walked the walk before you.

So like any job or business the majority can’t just walk in and be successful – there has to an education process and our business is no different – we have the process that most people prefer - it’s called ‘on the job training’ and ‘earn as you go training’.

The question is who is more suited to carry out this training? People who have blazed the trail or theorycrats [great word that] from behind a desk. Defined training courses are essential but active ongoing training has to be a winner in terms of keeping people motivated.

So back to the question is Amway a business for today - look at their stats world wide they certainly are very impressive, - so in my opinion if you are looking for a business that has a track record of success then look no further than Amway.

Networking - more important than ever:

With the economy on a downer at the moment we need to look at our income/revenue streams. How many sources of income do you have at present - if it's one, then ask yourself what if something were to happen to me - how many months salary have I in the bank.
You could do a lot worse than look at Network Marketing as a way of generating a second source of income. Be sure to link with a credible company, one that has stood the test of time. Watch out for new fast moving ideas that may not stand the test but if you choose one of these make sure there is an out for you and you are not putting to much money upfront.
All network marketing requires work to achieve a good level of success - so don't be fooled by those who say you will be wealthy in a short period of time - you get out what you put in - time & effort is required to build any sustainable network - you can't buy your way to the top.

Making Money In Network Marketing:

Can you make money in network marketing? Of course you can if you treat your involvement like a business where you buy & sell at a profit and avoid giving away your products to family friends at discounted or cost price.
One of the pit falls of making good money is that network marketers chase the volume bonus structure and ignore the profit margin between buying & selling - i.e. your retail markup. If you put time & energy in to a business venture try your best to make it pay - people will always look for discount and if you give it once you feel you have to continuously give it - believe in your product and believe in the quality of your service and don't try & justify your fair margin of profit.
